The Developmental Foundations Lab is the educational and developmental resource division of The Well Regulated Mind, an educational publishing company. The Lab creates thoughtfully designed, developmentally informed materials that support learning, skill development, and growing independence across different stages of development.
Our first series, Visual Motor & Fine Motor Foundations, is a progressive collection of eight educational workbooks addressing fine-motor coordination, visual-motor integration, spatial awareness, and motor planning.

Lines & Pencil Control introduces young learners to foundational pre-writing skills through engaging, developmentally appropriate activities. Guided by Panda and the Lab Team, children explore vertical and horizontal lines, curves, diagonals, zigzags, waves, and loops through progressively structured exercises.
Activities emphasize pencil control, hand-eye coordination, visual tracking, and early motor planning. Beginning with simple exploration and guided practice, the workbook gradually introduces more complex tasks that encourage increasing precision, coordination, and independence.
